Job summary

WEL Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service wheelchair users across the North East. The role requires diagnosing and repairing faults in manual and powered wheelchairs, with full training provided.

A valid UK driving licence and a hands-on attitude are essential, as you will work on-site and manage parts, records and safety checks. Permanent after training with full company support and a Tuesday–Friday?

Qualifications

• Practical and hands-on approach with interest in learning technical skills.
• Good practical and mechanical ability and willingness to learn basic electrical fault-finding.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on manual and powered wheelchairs.
• Work with mechanical, electrical and electronic components including motors, batteries, controllers, wiring, brakes, castors and tyres.
• Carry out planned maintenance and safety checks.
• Attend urgent and emergency repairs when required.
• Fit and adjust replacement components and accessories.
• Keep accurate records of work completed using a handheld tablet.
• Manage stock of parts within the company vehicle and request replacement parts when required.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with service users, families and healthcare professionals.
• Work independently while managing daily workload and prioritising urgent repairs.
