Job summary

Octane Recruitment seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customer locations, including EVs, on a permanent full-time basis. You will work 40 hours weekly, Monday to Saturday, 8am–8pm, with optional overtime opportunities and a focus on safety and quality. Must have UK work rights and a valid licence.

Salary is £55,625 with OTE up to £62,000, plus pension, life cover and progression opportunities in a nationwide team. Training and wellbeing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Post-qualification hands-on experience of at least 2 years with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customers' homes or work locations.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, electrical, brake and suspension issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers and handle payments.
• Maintain accurate service records and stay updated on new tech.

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8am – 8PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
