Job summary

A new specialist division of the UK’s leading breakdown provider seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces. This full-time role includes training opportunities and progression paths within a national network.

Working 40 hours across five days (Mon–Sat, 8am–8pm) with optional overtime. Competitive pay (£55,625–£62,000 OTE) and benefits to support career growth and stability.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• At least 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence with ≤6 points.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, rotations, brakes).
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, braking, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and fix problems.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep records of work and parts used.
• Keep up-to-date with automotive technology.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via pre-booked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Pay / salary: £55,625 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £62,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8am - 8PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.

• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
