Job summary

Perfect Placement in Northampton is seeking a skilled Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair commercial vehicles, primarily Ford Transits. The role is full-time and involves working autonomously within a well-established automotive business, with occasional overnight stays arranged in advance.

You will perform diagnostics, PDI checks, and manufacturer-compliant repairs, while maintaining accurate records and delivering excellent customer service across Northampton and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician.
• Main dealer experience with Ford is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain commercial vehicles, mainly Ford Transits.
• Perform PDI checks, brake and timing belt replacements, off-site when required.
• Carry out diagnostic work and warranty repairs to OEM standards.
• Identify additional work during health checks and complete repairs.
• Maintain service records and documentation.
• Provide professional customer service while working independently across Northampton.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for the position of Mobile Vehicle Technician in Northampton, Northamptonshire. This is a full-time role offering a unique opportunity for experienced Mobile Vehicle Technicians to work autonomously within a well-established automotive business.

Duties of a Mobile Vehicle Technician:

• Conduct vehicle servicing and routine maintenance on commercial vehicles, predominantly Ford Transits
• Perform PDI checks, brake replacements, and timing belt replacements, including off-site on Ford Transits
• Carry out diagnostic work, warranty repairs, and recalls, adhering to manufacturer standards
• Identify additional work during health checks and complete repairs in line with OEM specifications
• Maintain accurate documentation and service records
• Provide excellent customer service and represent the business professionally while working independently across Northampton and surrounding areas
• Occasionally stay away overnight, with prior arrangement and consideration of personal circumstances

Requirements of a Mobile Vehicle Technician:

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician
• Previous main dealer experience, particularly with Ford, is highly advantageous
• Strong diagnostic skills and fault-finding ability
• Confident in performing timing belt replacements on Ford Transits off-site
• Experience working on commercial vehicles, especially Ford Transits
• Full UK driving licence
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Positive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship
• Ability to manage workload independently
