Job summary

Platinum-Recruitment is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Cardiff to service and repair vans and light commercial vehicles at customer sites across Cardiff and surrounding areas. You’ll travel with a company van and benefit from training and progression opportunities.

The role offers a salary of £54,000–£55,000 per year plus overtime, door-to-door pay and a pension scheme, with 20 days leave and on-call payments. Level 2/3 maintenance qualification and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• We require a Level 2 or Level 3 vehicle maintenance qualification (IMI/City & Guilds) or equivalent experience.
• Own hand tools; specialist tools may be provided for the role.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect and repair vans and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Maintain PTO systems, hydraulic power packs, tail lifts, cranes and winches.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and compliance inspections.
• Attend breakdowns and complete urgent repairs when required.
• Complete reports, photographs, hours and parts records using a tablet.
• Liaise with service controllers to arrange follow-on repairs.
• Work towards LOLER thorough examinations on tail lifts with training provided.

Salary: GBP54000 - GBP55000 per annum + Door-to-Door & Company Van

We’re recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician to maintain and repair utility vans and specialist vehicle equipment across Cardiff and the surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities:

As a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you’ll travel directly to customer sites across Cardiff and the surrounding areas, carrying out planned maintenance, inspections and repairs.

• Service, inspect and repair vans and light commercial vehicles
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
• Maintain PTO systems, hydraulic power packs, tail lifts, cranes and winches
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and compliance inspections
• Attend breakdowns and complete urgent repairs where requiredComplete job reports, photographs, hours and parts records using a tablet
• Liaise with service controllers to arrange follow-on repairs and keep jobs moving
• Work towards carrying out LOLER thorough examinations on tail lifts, with training provided where required

What we’re looking for:

We’re keen to hear from experienced vehicle maintenance professionals who enjoy working independently and take pride in delivering quality repairs.

• Level 2 or Level 3 vehicle maintenance qualification, such as IMI or City & Guilds, or equivalent experience
• Experience as a Vehicle Technician, Vehicle Mechanic, Mobile Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• Own hand tools; specialist tools and diagnostic equipment are provided
• Full UK driving licence
• Confident diagnosing faults and working independently at customer sites
• A practical, organised approach to problem-solving and job reporting

Experience with PTO systems, tail lifts, hydraulics or vehicle-mounted equipment would be advantageous. Training is available for strong vehicle technicians looking to develop their skills, so experience in every specialist area is not essential.

Previous mobile mechanic, roadside technician or commercial vehicle maintenance experience would also be beneficial.

Hours and working pattern

• Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week
• Typical first appointments between 7am and 8am
• Paid door-to-door, so your paid working time starts when you leave home
• On-call rota depending on the area covered, with additional payments
