Job summary

Veolia is hiring a maintenance engineer to support sites across East Yorkshire, primarily Hull, with travel between industrial locations for planned and reactive works on steam boilers and effluent treatment equipment.

The role requires an HNC/ONC (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent, with IOSH health and safety awareness, Gas Safe/BOAS/IEE 18th Edition advantageous, and a full UK driving licence. Competitive salary up to £37,000 plus company vehicle and Veolia benefits.

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC/ONC level (mechanical or electrical) preferred.
• IOSH Health & Safety awareness qualification is desirable.
• Gas Safe/BOAS/IEE 18th Edition beneficial but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Mainly based in Hull, with travel between East Yorkshire sites to perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on steam boilers and effluent treatment equipment.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers during planned services.
• Ensure all contractual service expectations are delivered for the customer.
• Review on-site documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, SOPs, COSHH, SDS, ensuring they are up to date.
• Work with supervisors and team members to keep statuary maintenance compliant.
• Engage in monthly engineering meetings to drive continuous improvement.
• Support supervisors to investigate and close out safety actions.

43 hours per week, Monday to Friday ( 1 in 4 call out rota)

What you'll be doing:

• Mainly based in Hull, but with travel between several industrial sites (Effluent Treatment, Steam Boilers and District Heating) across East Yorkshire to carry out both planned preventative maintenance and additional reactive works.
• Liaising with contractors and suppliers during planned services
• Ensuring all contractual service expectations are delivered for the customer
• Take an active role in reviewing on site documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, SOP's, COSHH, SDS etc ensuring there are all up to date
• Work with supervisors and other team members to ensure statuary maintenance is completed and sites are always compliant
• Engage with and contribute to monthly engineering meeting to encourage continuous improvement within the area
• Helping to build a strong HSE culture by reporting near misses and safety concerns, supporting supervisors to investigate and close out any actions

What we're looking for:

• Qualified to HNC or ONC level (mechanical or electrical) preferred
• Previous experience with steam boilers and industrial effluent treatment (DAF Plants) beneficial
• Health & Safety awareness qualification (IOSH)
• Gas Safe, BOAS and IEE 18th Edition would be beneficial, but can also be trained on the job
• Willingness to develop and upskill through targeted training
• Strong problem solving ability and adaptability
• Full clean UK driving licence
