Job summary

Frontier Agriculture is seeking a Mobile Seed Plant Operator to join our team in Nayland on a permanent, full-time basis. You will drive to farms, process farm-saved seed, check quality, take samples, and maintain mobile machinery with a strong focus on health and safety.

The role also supports our workshop fabrication team with in-house manufacture of bespoke mobile seed processors. Applicants should have a full UK driving licence; PA1/PA11 training will be provided and training is available

Qualifications

• A full UK driving licence is required; HGV Class 2 is advantageous but full training will be given.
• Experience in agriculture, mechanical work or grain handling is advantageous; PA1/PA11 training provided.
• Strong communication and organisational skills are essential for planning and prioritising work.
• Ability to work autonomously and on customer sites when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the mobile seed plant to clean and treat products.
• Service the mobile seed plant to required standards.
• Supervise support staff on the customer’s premises.
• Assist the Site Manager as workload requires.
• Organise loading of chemicals and bag requirements per orders.
• Plan own workload and work unsupervised when needed.

Job description

We are looking for a Mobile Seed Plant Operator to join the Frontier team, based at Nayland on a permanent, full-time basis.

You will be responsible for driving to farms and processing farm-saved seed, checking quality of the seed, taking samples and maintaining mobile machinery always ensuring the site/machinery is clean and tidy and health and safety processes are always adhered to. Alongside this we are looking for someone to support the workshop fabrication team with the in-house manufacture of our bespoke mobile seed processors.

About You

• Full UK driving licence required (HGV Class 2 would be an advantage but full training will be given to the successful candidate)
• Previous Agricultural, Mechanical or grain handling experience would be an advantage, but full training will be provided for the successful candidate (PA1 & PA11 - Seed Treatment Handling & Application)
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally
• Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively

Your Role Will Involve

As a Mobile Seed Plant Operator your role will involve:

• Running the mobile seed plant to clean and treat various products
• Servicing the mobile seed plant to the required standards
• Supervising support staff whilst operating on the customer’s premises and on site
• Assisting the Site Manager as workload requires
• Organising the loading of chemical and bag requirements on to vehicles, as per customer orders
• Organising your own workload and, at times, working unsupervised
