Job summary

Vertas is seeking a Mobile School Chef to join our Catering Team. Based across Sutton in Ashfield and surrounding areas, you will work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm, across multiple school sites.

You will lead kitchen operations, ensure high-quality food and service, supervise catering colleagues and travel between sites as required, with flexibility to cover nearby locations within Nottinghamshire.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team player who can lead by example.
• Organise workloads and work efficiently under pressure.
• Willingness to travel across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals per menu specs.
• Manage day-to-day kitchen operations across sites.
• Supervise and support catering colleagues.
• Monitor food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety requirements.
• Manage stock, ordering and minimise waste.
• Maintain records in line with procedures.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
• Provide support across catering operations as required.
