Job summary

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in Lewis and Harris is seeking an itinerant kitchen assistant for Lewis and Harris schools, initially Stornoway Primary. You will perform general kitchen duties, prepare and serve meals, snacks and beverages, handle cash, and ensure food hygiene and safety compliance in line with policy.

Previous experience is essential; a Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for travel between locations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar kitchen role is essential.
• A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general kitchen duties in school kitchens and dining areas.
• Prepare food, cook simply, and serve meals, snacks and beverages.
• Handle cash, operate cash register and complete related forms.
• Ensure food handling operations comply with Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation and council policy.
