Job summary

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is seeking an itinerant Kitchen Assistant to perform general kitchen duties in school kitchens and dining areas across Lewis and Harris. The role starts with deployment at Stornoway Primary School.

The post requires prior similar experience and a valid Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for travel between locations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar post is essential.
• A current Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.
• A full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
• PVG scheme membership is required by law for this regulated role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general kitchen duties in school kitchens and dining areas.
• Prepare food, including simple cooking and serving meals, snacks and beverages.
• Handle cash, operate the cash register and complete relevant forms.
• Ensure food handling complies with Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation and policies.
• Travel between locations as required.
