Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Mobile Catering Assistant to join our school catering unit. You will help with food preparation, serve meals, maintain dining areas, and support the central kitchen where applicable.

The role emphasises teamwork, hygiene, and customer service for pupils and staff. This position involves practical catering duties, regular compliance with food safety and safeguarding guidelines, and working in a school environment.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake job related training.
• Access to a suitable vehicle or transport to meet mobility requirements.
• Evidence of effective leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Planning, organisational and decision-making abilities; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Motivation to provide excellent food and customer service for children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food and beverage preparation and using appropriate equipment.
• Support simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organise and control food service points and serve meals and snacks.
• Promote meals to pupils, parents and staff where appropriate.
• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of dining areas, kitchen, and equipment.
• Record temperatures for control purposes and ensure premises are secure.
• Complete administration and duties within the scope of the role.
