Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) in Exeter to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. The role offers a strong base salary (£36,400) with OTE in excess of £60,000 and potential to earn £70k–£80k+.

Shifts span 6am–12am, 40 hours weekly, with pre-scheduled rotas. Responsibilities include on-site repairs, diagnostic work, and advising members on next steps.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualifications hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible to maintain member mobility.
• Advise members on next steps including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
