Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) to join a national breakdown team serving customers across the UK. You will attend roadside breakdowns, diagnose faults, perform mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, and advise members on next steps.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Merthyr Tydfil with 40-hour weeks, overtime at enhanced rates, and a potential OTE well over £60,000.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Hands-on vehicle experience preferred (2+ years) in workshop or mobile role.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery, wheels, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible to maintain member mobility.
• Advise members on next steps and recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
