Job summary

KMC Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a leading plant hire and equipment rental company for an experienced Mobile Fitter to cover the Midlands region. You’ll travel to customer sites to service and repair a wide range of plant and construction equipment, keeping machines running safely and efficiently.

The role offers a £44,800 basic salary, a 52.5-hour basic week, overtime paid at 1.5x, full-time permanent position, ongoing manufacturer and technical training, and excellent opportunities

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Mobile Fitter or similar engineering role.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with plant, construction, or heavy equipment.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and provide on-site support.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and represent the business professionally.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading company within the plant hire and equipment rental industry for an experienced Mobile Fitter to cover the Midlands region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys working independently, travelling to customer sites, and maintaining a wide range of plant and construction equipment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring customers receive a fast, reliable service while keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of plant and construction equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults.
• Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and provide effective on-site support.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and represent the business professionally at all times.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Mobile Fitter, Plant Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Technician, or in a similar engineering role.
• Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills.
• Experience working on plant, construction, agricultural, or heavy equipment.
• Good knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
