Job summary

KMC Recruitment is looking for a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter for a leading national plant hire company. You will service, maintain, inspect and repair a wide range of mobile plant and heavy equipment across multiple sites in a field-based role.

The role requires strong diagnostic skills in hydraulics, diesel engines and electrical systems, and a valid driving licence. Travel to sites and on-site breakdowns are expected, with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems.
• NVQ in Land Based Engineering or Plant Maintenance (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect, and maintain mobile plant equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Attend on-site breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime
• Work on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and forklifts
• Complete job cards, reports, and maintenance records accurately
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
• Carry out pre-start checks and routine inspections
• Liaise with site teams regarding repairs and equipment status

The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of mobile plant and heavy equipment across multiple sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s licence
• Willingness to travel and work on-site

Working Conditions
