Job summary

Emr-Uk is seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team based in Cardiff. You will perform reactive, preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance across South Wales operations, covering Cardiff and surrounding sites with occasional travel to other UK locations.

The role is mobile with a company car allowance, specialist tooling, and diagnostic equipment provided. Shifts alternate weekly: 8:00am–5:30pm Mon-Fri, then 6:00am–3:30pm Wed-Sun the following week.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Plant Maintenance or related field.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience maintaining heavy mobile plant in industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs and breakdown response on mobile plant and port equipment across sites.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Apply LOTOTO procedures and safe systems of work to all activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and availability.
• Collaborate with site operations, contractors and engineering to minimise downtime and maximise performance.

About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team based in Cardiff. As a key member of the maintenance function, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive, preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance activities across our South Wales operations.

This is a mobile role covering Cardiff and surrounding sites, with occasional travel to other UK locations when operationally required. A company car allowance, specialist tooling, and diagnostic equipment will be provided.

The role will operate on a rotating weekly shift pattern, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm, and the other week Wednesday to Sunday, 6:00am–3:30pm, with the shifts alternating each week.

What You Will Be Doing

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and breakdown response on a wide range of mobile plant and port equipment: Material Handlers (Sennebogen, Liebherr, Caterpillar), Wheeled Loading Shovels, Hydraulic Cranes, etc.

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Apply and adhere to LOTOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out) procedures and company safe systems of work.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and availability.
• Work closely with site operations, contractors, and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance

About You

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant in a port, waste, quarry, recycling, aggregates, bulk handling, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrable competence working on: Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with material handlers, loading shovels, cranes, reach stackers, forklifts, and heavy industrial plant.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
