Job summary

Andrews Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Mobile Mechanical Fitter to maintain and repair heavy industrial machinery across operational sites within the aggregates and building materials sector.

This hands-on mobile engineering role requires travelling between sites, carrying out mechanical maintenance, breakdown support and repairs to crushers, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and other plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Hands-on fitting and fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining heavy plant or industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

• Travel between sites to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical faults.
• Maintain crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Undertake mechanical repairs, welding and fabrication.
• Support shutdowns and major maintenance projects.
• Identify recurring faults and suggest improvements.
• Work independently with site engineering and operations teams.

Andrews Recruitment are one of the UK's leading Aggregate and Building Material recruitment partners, and we are currentlyrecruiting for an experienced Mobile Mechanical Fitter to maintain and repair heavy industrial machinery across operational sites within the aggregates and building materials sector.

This is a hands-on, mobile engineering position for someone who enjoys getting out to different sites, investigating breakdowns and keeping essential production equipment running.

If you're currently working as a Quarry Fitter, Mobile Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Mechanic, Field Service Engineer or Industrial Maintenance Fitter, this could be an excellent opportunity.

The Role

As a Mobile Mechanical Fitter, you'll travel between operational sites, providing mechanical maintenance, breakdown support and repairs to a range of heavy industrial equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Travelling between sites to carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and diagnosing mechanical faults.
• Maintaining crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, drives and associated plant machinery.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Undertaking mechanical repairs, component replacement, welding and fabrication.
• Supporting shutdowns, major repairs and maintenance projects.
• Identifying recurring mechanical faults and recommending improvements.
• Working independently while coordinating with site engineering and operational teams.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in engineers with experience in:

• A mechanical engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining heavy plant or industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulics and mechanical drive systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Confidence working independently across multiple operational sites.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel between sites as required.

Direct quarrying or aggregates experience would be advantageous, but engineers from other heavy industrial environments are encouraged to apply.
