Job summary

Birmingham City Council’s Libraries service is seeking a dependable Senior Van Driver / Mobile Library Driver to deliver library services across Birmingham. The role combines driving, stock management, and customer support to promote reading and literacy in local communities.

The post requires an LGV Class C licence with Driver CPC, a confident approach to driving in urban areas, and the ability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings. DBS check and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid LGV Class C licence and Driver CPC qualification.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable using computers and library systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Mobile Library on scheduled routes across Birmingham.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report defects.
• Load/unload materials and assist customers at stops.
• Issue and return library materials using library systems.
• Support community engagement and promotional activities.
