Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking two Library Assistants for the Mobile Library Service based in Erdington. You will deliver books and library services to residents across the city, supporting literacy, information access and community engagement.

One role is full-time (36.5 hours) and the other part-time (18.25 hours). You will work across locations, handle stock, assist with events and promote reading while maintaining a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering customer service.
• Confident using computers and digital systems.
• Good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver welcoming, professional service to library customers across Birmingham.
• Issue and return books using library management systems.
• Handle customer enquiries in person and by phone.
• Organise stock and assist with mobile library operations.
• Support promotional activities and events.
• Ensure a safe, welcoming environment and travel to sites as required.
