Job summary

Aprolis UK is seeking an experienced field service technician to carry out routine maintenance and repairs on forklift trucks at customer sites across the region. You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and ensure safety and quality standards are met, while maintaining strong customer relationships.

You will plan workload with the Service Coordinator, manage van stock and tools, and keep documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

• Proceed to customer's premises as advised, report to the customer's contact, locate equipment, diagnose fault, inform Service Coordinator and the customer of the approximate time of completion, rectify faults as required, and ensure the machine is left safe and to the customer's satisfaction.
• Carry out routine maintenance as directed, ensuring service parts are available prior to attending site, and highlight all quoted work with the customer.
• Liaise with customers on site to obtain agreement for follow-up repairs or work, and provide verbal estimates in conjunction with the Service Manager.
• Minimise non-recoverable travel time by planning workload with Service Control and maintaining van stock and tooling.
• Submit detailed Parts Requisitions or provide sufficient information by phone to obtain parts timely.
• Work mostly without supervision, in a safe manner, and inform your manager if assistance is needed.
• Keep the Coordinator/Supervisor informed of activities and estimated completion times for workload planning.
• Maintain van tooling and spares stock, keeping the van clean and tidy inside and out.
• Report defective tooling or equipment to the Service Manager immediately.
• Project a positive image of Aprolis Group, wear company uniform, drive courteously, and respect other road users.
• Complete all Service Reports and documentation before leaving site and obtain customer signatures on Job Sheets; send documentation to the Service Office promptly.
• Ensure overtime is authorised and corresponds to Time Sheet/Job Sheet declarations.
• Maximise on repairs to customer trucks, acting with integrity.
• Ensure forklift trucks are serviced to manufacturer recommendations.
• Be proactive in maintaining fleet trucks and minimising costs where possible.
• Attend Internal/External training courses as required to meet Business and Health & Safety requirements.
• Perform any other reasonable duties within the scope of knowledge, skills and ability.
