Job summary

The Economist Group is seeking a Mobile Engineering Manager to lead our iOS and Android engineers, owning the health, delivery and growth of the mobile function. This role blends hands-on coding with people leadership, partnering closely with product to shape what we build and why.

You will work with engineers, product managers, designers and other engineering leads to ship a fast, reliable mobile experience, while setting standards for quality, testing and release practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an engineering manager or tech lead.
• Hands-on mobile development experience (iOS/Swift and/or Android/Kotlin).
• Experience shipping consumer mobile apps at scale.
• Strong communication and collaboration with product/design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of iOS and Android engineers.
• Review code and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Own delivery planning and remove blockers with product.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, performance, accessibility and release practices.
• Partner with Product, Design, QA and backend teams to turn roadmaps into a mobile plan.
• Recruit, interview and onboard mobile engineers.
• Represent mobile engineering in broader engineering leadership discussions.
