The Economist Group is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to join our flagship mobile engineering team in a hybrid role based in Greater London. You will guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive the evolution of our Android platform at scale.

You will work with engineers, product managers, designers and cross-platform peers to deliver a performant, reliable Android experience, shaping how millions access trusted insights across products.

Qualifikationen

Proven experience in Android development with Kotlin.
Strong track record designing scalable mobile architectures.
Excellent leadership and mentorship capabilities.
Solid understanding of UI frameworks, threading, and memory management on Android.

Aufgaben

Lead design, development, and evolution of Android architecture across the app.
Collaborate with product, design, and platform leads on technical strategy.
Set coding standards and conduct architecture reviews and design docs.
Drive platform-wide initiatives like performance optimization and test infrastructure.
Mentor engineers across levels to grow technical and leadership skills.
Ensure high performance, scalability, and maintainability of the Android experience.
Foster cross-squad collaboration with iOS and backend teams.
