Job summary

Equans is seeking a Mobile Electrician to join the North Lanarkshire Schools contract, based from Bellshill. This full-time role (40 hours per week) offers a competitive salary and a strong benefits package to support learning environments.

You will deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across classrooms, offices, and outdoor areas, ensuring safe, compliant systems that support a secure learning atmosphere with safeguarding and PVG requirements understood.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification or willingness to gain.
Experience as an electrician in facilities management or similar sector.
Knowledge of life-safety and electrical systems in educational settings.
Valid CSCS/ECS or equivalent site safety card.
Understanding of health & safety legislation and permit-to-work systems.

Responsibilities

Perform electrical installations, modifications, and repairs in school facilities.
Maintain lighting, small power, distribution boards, and containment systems.
Support life-safety systems maintenance and testing, including emergency lighting.
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise disruption to learning.
Carry out reactive tasks and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
Test, inspect, and issue certificates/reports as required.
Plan works with managers to minimise impact on lessons and events.
Provide updates on progress, risks, and timelines.
Liaise with subcontractors and multi-trade teams for quality delivery.
Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call rota (1 in 9).
