Job Description:

We are now recruiting for a Mobile Electrical Service & Maintenance / HVAC Engineer covering the M,SK,OL,CW postcode areas.

Job reference number 320591

Salary: £33,800.41 to £37,570.35 per annum (dependent upon skills and experience), plus standby allowance c£290 per week when on rota, and appropriate overtime rate when attending calls.

22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 after 5 years’ service plus bank holidays.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). Typical hours are 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday, with flexibility required.

You will join an out-of-hours callout rota, typically a 1 in 4 rota.

This role requires excellent technical knowledge of HVAC, lighting systems, mechanical, power, and control wiring. Experience with FM systems is essential, with a focus on core building tasks. Air Conditioning or gas qualifications are advantageous.

You need a flexible approach, willingness to travel within a specified area (vehicle provided), and excellent communication and organizational skills to liaise with customers and managers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing complex technical issues related to electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and lighting systems.
  • Managing planned and corrective maintenance to meet contract performance measures.
  • Liaising with customer representatives to meet their requirements.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork accurately.
  • Making judgment calls to achieve cost, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Acting as a safety role model.
  • Managing customer relationships and maintaining a professional image of Royal Mail P&FS.
  • Reporting to the Technical Services manager.

About You:

  • Hold 18th Edition Electrical certification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in HVAC, electrical engineering, F-Gas, or City and Guilds 2079 in Air Con and Refrigeration.
  • IOSH certification.
  • Ideally IPAF and MEWP trained and qualified, comfortable working at heights.
  • Electrical qualification such as 2391 testing and inspection (training available if needed).
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Valid UK driving license with no endorsements preferred.
  • Computer literacy is an advantage.
