Job summary

Equans is recruiting a Mobile Combustion Engineer to service the Midlands on a permanent basis. The role covers the West Midlands, with Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent as core areas and additional Midlands sites.

You will work on commercial boilers, gas equipment and domestic boilers, performing PPM, reactive and breakdown tasks, updating CAFM, and contributing to on-call coverage. A full UK driving licence and relevant gas safety certifications are required.

Qualifications

• A recognised industry qualification is required and previous experience is essential.
• CCN1: Core Domestic Gas Safety is mandatory for domestic work and COCN1: Core Commercial Gas Safety is mandatory for commercial work.
• CPA1: Combustion Performance Analysis is often bundled with core.
• Domestic (Natural Gas): CENWAT (boilers).
• Commercial/Industrial: Includes CODNCO1 (domestic to commercial switch) and CIGA1/CDGA1 (commercial appliances).
• ICP N1/BMP1: Gas boosters, Medium pressure; CCP1: Commission of commercial plant; CDGA1: Commission, Service Direct Fired Heaters.
• C&G Level 3 Plumbing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work on equipment including commercial boilers, gas heaters, water heaters, control valves and domestic boilers.
• Cover multiple sites within the Midlands contract, e.g., Stoke Schools and Guide Dogs.
• Complete relevant paperwork for PPM, reactive and breakdown tasks and pass to the contract administrator promptly.
• Update CAFM system in real time with task timings and full work descriptions; flag follow-on works as needed.
• Record plant failures with quotation forms and route to line manager; participate in on-call rota.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Mobile Combustion Engineer to join our team working across the Midlands on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week.

The majority of the work will be based in the West Midlands covering Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent but it will also cover other parts of the Midlands.

What will you deliver?

• Working on the following equipment but not limited to: Commercial Boilers, Associated Gas Equipment, Gas Fire Radiant Heaters, Water Heaters, Control valves, Domestic Boilers
• Cover numerous sites that fall within the contract such as Stoke Schools and Guide Dogs
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator
• Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms relating to the maintenance task as dictated by your line manager
• Update customers CAFM system in real time with start/wait/stop completion times and provide full description of works undertaken, advising of any follow-on works required
• Ensure reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Identify and record all plant failures using quotation forms and issue to line manager.
• This is to be indicated and recorded within the CAFM system
• Take part in the on call rota
