Job summary

bpha is a leading Housing Association active across Oxford to Cambridge arc, seeking a dedicated Mobile Caretaker. This permanent, full-time role involves maintaining safety, cleanliness, and community spirit across sites, with an annual salary of £25,950 and access to a vehicle.

You will deliver high-quality caretaking, supervise contractors, and work with housing officers to protect residents and property.

Qualifications

• Cleaning is essential and knowledge of cleaning procedures is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience in cleaning and general maintenance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel; Asprey data systems experience helpful.
• Relevant qualifications such as Legionella P900 or Asset/Building Compliance awareness.
• COSHH training is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused caretaking service to residents.
• Ensure communal areas are clean, safe, and free from hazards; follow Move It or Lose It process.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies and act as a first responder for communal buildings.
• Complete health and safety assessments, keep records, and help meet statutory requirements.
• Supervise contractors and maintenance on site, including grass cutting, window cleaning, and repairs.
• Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks—fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors, lifts.
• Perform basic maintenance such as changing light bulbs, reading metres, and adjusting time switches.
• Work with housing officers and stakeholders to support building safety.
• Handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism, liaising with emergency services when needed.
