Job summary

Amey invites applications for a Caretaker at Abbeyfield School, Mere Way, Northampton NN4 8BU. The role is on site with a company van provided, offering 37.5 hours per week across flexible shift patterns from 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Salary is £13.72 per hour. You will manage day-to-day premises maintenance, ensure heating, lighting and alarms function correctly, guard against vandalism, and support safe, efficient operations across the site.

• Knowledge and experience in practical DIY skills for minor repairs.
• Good teamwork and collaboration with on-site client and staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth running of the school premises.
• Carry out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working.
• Check that doors and windows are locked when not in use.
• Guard premises against vandalism.
• Arrange and clear chairs and tables for meetings.
• Litter picking and general cleaning of external areas.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Caretaker to Join our Northampton Schools Account inAbbeyfield School, Mere Way, Northampton NN4 8BU - This role will be based on site. A company van will be provided

The hours of work will be37.5 hours per week, shift patterns will be flexible between 7:00am & 7:00pm (start and finish times will vary)

Amey manages facilities for 42 Northampton schools, ensuring safe, clean, and compliant learning environments for students and teachers. We deliver 24/7 services with minimal disruption, working in partnership to maintain high standards

You will be responsible for

• Ensure smooth running of the school premises
• Carrying out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (i.e., furniture fixtures, wall repairs)
• To ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
• Daily responsible to check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use
• Checking the premises to guard against vandalism
• Arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clearing away afterwards
• Litter picking and general clearing of external areas
