Job summary

Amey is seeking a Mobile Caretaker to join the Northampton Schools Account at Abbeyfield School, Mere Way, Northampton NN4 8BU. The role is on-site with a provided company van, offering 37.5 hours per week and a salary of £13.72 per hour.

Shift patterns from 7:00am to 7:00pm provide flexibility to maintain premises efficiently. You will perform daily maintenance, ensure safety and security, and support carbon reduction efforts while delivering reliable facilities services across 42 Northampton

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in practical DIY skills for minor repairs.
• Good team player with collaborative mindset.
• Flexible with shift patterns to cover 7:00am–7:00pm windows.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with on-site client and staff.
• Role supports carbon reduction programmes and lean approaches where appropriate.
• Ensure health & safety standards are met across the contract.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth running of the school premises.
• Carry out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (furniture, fixtures, wall repairs).
• Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are functioning.
• Daily check that doors/windows are locked when building is unused.
• Guard premises against vandalism.
• Arrange and clear chairs/tables for meetings or assemblies.
• Litter picking and general clearing of external areas.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Caretaker to Join our Northampton Schools Account in Abbeyfield School, Mere Way, Northampton NN4 8BU - This role will be based on site. A company van will be provided

The salary is £13.72 per hour

The hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week, shift patterns will be flexible between 7:00am & 7:00pm (start and finish times will vary)

Amey manages facilities for 42 Northampton schools, ensuring safe, clean, and compliant learning environments for students and teachers. We deliver 24/7 services with minimal disruption, working in partnership to maintain high standards

You will be responsible for

• Ensure smooth running of the school premises


• Carrying out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (i.e., furniture fixtures, wall repairs)


• To ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly


• Daily responsible to check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use


• Checking the premises to guard against vandalism


• Arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clearing away afterwards


• Litter picking and general clearing of external areas
