Job summary

NHS Scotland in NHS Highland is seeking a Band 7 Motor Neurone Disease specialist nurse to oversee and support people living with MND, liaising with neurology consultants, the MND network and wider clinical teams including third sector partners.

The post holder will work autonomously to help shape MND services, joining the wider MND community and working alongside the MND Association through the MND National Research Network. Flexible base with travel across districts and MDT/home visits offered.

Qualifications

• Experience of neurological conditions and palliate care.
• Willingness to travel across districts to attend MDT clinics, meetings and home visits.

Responsibilities

• Care Coordination: Acts as the main point of contact for patients, families and local health teams to deliver person-centred care.
• Clinical Autonomy: Assesses patients, creates specialised care plans, and makes critical judgements regarding symptom management and palliative care.
• Leadership: Mentors junior staff, acts as the link for MND across NHSH and drives service improvements.
