Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking dedicated MLD Teaching Assistants across Mansfield's specialist provisions. Term-time only, Monday–Friday, with in-class support and targeted interventions for pupils with moderate learning difficulties.

You will help boost literacy, numeracy, and communication skills, using positive behaviour strategies and collaborating with teachers to adapt resources. DBS updates and references are required, with competitive daily pay and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent relevant experience in education, youth work, or care).
• Proven experience supporting children or young people with moderate learning difficulties, SEMH, or additional needs.
• Strong understanding of differentiation, phonics, and adaptive teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Two professional references covering your most recent employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted in-class support to pupils with MLD, helping them access a differentiated curriculum.
• Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions to boost literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to build confidence, independence, and social interaction.
• Work closely with class teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning styles.
• Support pupils with associated needs such as speech & language delays, dyslexia, or mild physical coordination difficulties.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews and progress tracking, feeding back to the SENCO and wider team.
