Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks a Hydrologist or Water Resource Engineer to join the UK Mine Water team, with a preference for London but Reading, Birmingham, or Leeds considered. Role focuses on mining projects, with potential in infrastructure and land development.

Travel for site work and client development is required, with a strong emphasis on water resources, environmental assessments and water management design.

Qualifications

• BSc in Water Resource Engineering or Civil Engineering (with hydrology/hydraulics)
• MSc in hydrology and/or hydraulic design is advantageous
• Strong technical and report writing skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication
• Able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally
• Experience in mining sector projects or consultancy is preferred

Responsibilities

• Contribute to water resources aspects of mining projects, including environmental assessments, permitting, and water stewardship.
• Develop water management plans and perform water balance modelling.
• Design water management infrastructure and conduct climate/hydrological assessments.
• Prepare technical documents for senior review.
• Support non-mining UK & Ireland projects such as Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS design.
• Travel for project-based site work as needed.
• Assist in client relationship development and business development.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support senior staff to meet project goals.
• Promote a safety-first culture in line with policy.
