Job summary

Park House School in Newbury is seeking a responsible minibus driver to transport students on morning and afternoon routes, with occasional outings. The role operates term time only and requires a clean D1-licensed driver who can perform routine vehicle checks and ensure passenger safety.

You will maintain the minibus, record usage and mileage, and uphold high standards of student welfare and conduct while representing the school on the road.

Qualifications

• Holds a clean, current and valid driving licence, with D1 entitlement.
• Competent to undertake daily and weekly vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance.
• Excellent awareness of road safety and passenger care.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating the minibus on designated routes, adhering to speed limits and traffic laws.
• Taking responsibility for the safety, comfort and welfare of the students.
• Representing the school by parking appropriately and not obstructing traffic.
• Performing pre-journey checks (tyres, lights, fuel, oil, water) and reporting defects or faults.
• Being responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
• Maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, fuel and the students using the service.

Job description

This role involves driving the school mini bus in a responsible and competent manner, ensuring the safety of the passengers, other road users, members of the public and yourself at all times. Safely transporting students on designated routes on morning and afternoon bus runs, and to occasionally transport students on outings and to other schools as required. It involves working term time only.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Safely operating the minibus on designated routes, adhering to speed limits and traffic laws.
• Taking responsibility for the safety, comfort and welfare of the students.
• Representing the school well by parking appropriately, respecting other road users and pedestrians and not obstructing traffic.
• Performing pre-journey checks (tyres, lights, fuel, oil, water) and report any defects, accidents, or faults immediately.
• Being responsible for the cleanliness of vehicles, inside and out, including removing rubbish and cleaning spills.
• Maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, fuel and the students using the service.

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds a clean, current and valid driving licence, with D1 entitlement.
• Is competent to undertake daily and weekly vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance
• Has excellent awareness of road safety and passenger care
• Is friendly, approachable and reliable
