Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. in North Tawton, EX20 2EB, is seeking a Class 1 Driver to collect milk from local farms and deliver to the dairy. The role features a 06:00–16:00 shift, 5 on 3 off, with a competitive salary and full training where needed.

You will handle milk sampling, farm collections, and occasional transhipment work, while maintaining strict quality and safety standards and strong communication with the transport team.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience with milk tankers is advantageous; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Collect milk from local farms and deliver to the dairy.
• Label milk samples collected from farms for laboratory testing.
• Assist with farm collections and occasional transhipment work.
• Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed on time to meet client requirements.
• Drive rural routes and maintain high safety standards.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and communicate with the transport team.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated with industry standards.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you will:

• Take on the essential role of collecting fresh milk from local farms and delivering it to the dairy, ensuring every delivery is made with care and precision.


• Collect milk samples during farm collections and once back at the depot, ensure all samples are correctly labelled before being dropped off for laboratory testing, in line with quality and food safety requirements.


• Embrace a variety of tasks, including farm collections and occasional transhipment work, adding variety to your daily routine.


• Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed on time, meeting client requirements and maintaining consistently high standards.


• Enjoy rural driving while navigating beautiful landscapes and countryside routes.


• Carry out comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using the company phone to ensure vehicle safety, compliance, and reliability.


• Maintain regular communication with the transport team, providing updates on progress and any issues encountered.


• Participate in regular training sessions to remain up to date with industry standards, procedures, and best practices.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.


• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.


• Experience with milk tankers would be an advantage, though full training will be provided for the right candidate.
