Job summary

Searley Owen Limited in Grays is seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our busy, established manufacturing workshop. You will weld mild steel components and take on general fabrication and assembly tasks in a stable, day-shift role.

The position is permanent, Monday to Friday, with daytime hours and optional overtime. You don't need every machine experience; practical MIG welding ability and accuracy with steel are key, with many hands-on fabrication duties.

Qualifications

• Practical MIG welding experience and ability to work in a workshop.
• Hands-on ability valued over formal qualifications.
• Experience as MIG Welder, Welder Fabricator or Fabricator Welder is suitable.

£33,000 - £37,500 per annum | Monday-Friday | Days | Optional Overtime

We are looking for an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy and established manufacturing business in Grays.

This is a permanent, workshop-based position offering regular Monday to Friday daytime hours. Overtime is available if you want it, but it isn't compulsory.

You'll primarily be MIG welding mild steel components, alongside general fabrication and assembly work.

You don't need to be experienced on every machine in the workshop. If you're a confident MIG welder, can work accurately with steel and have experience within a fabrication, engineering or manufacturing environment, we'd be interested in speaking with you.

Key Duties

• MIG welding mild steel
• General fabrication and assembly
• Measuring, marking out and preparing materials
• Cutting and preparing steel components
• Working from basic drawings and measurements
• Checking your own work and finished products
• Using general workshop tools and machinery

The workshop also uses press brakes, guillotines and rollers. Experience with these would be useful, but isn't essential.

Key Experience

• You'll need practical MIG welding experience and be comfortable working within a workshop environment.
• We're more interested in your hands‑on ability and experience than formal qualifications.
• Experience as a MIG Welder, Welder Fabricator, Fabricator Welder, Sheet Metal Worker or Production Welder could all be suitable.

Hours & Pay

• £33,000 - £37,500 per annum (£16-£18 per hour)
• Monday to Friday - 7:30am to 4:30pm
• Overtime available but completely optional.
• A short practical weld test will form part of the interview process
