Job summary

Solutions Engineering Recruitment is seeking a skilled MIG/MAG Welder in the United Kingdom for a fabrication environment. You will weld fabricated components to the required specifications and support finishing work, reading engineering drawings to ensure accuracy.

The role offers steady hours (Mon-Thu 7:00–15:30; Fri 7:00–12:30) totaling 37.5 hours per week, with an up-to £20.00 per hour pay rate and a strong pension and life insurance package.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a MIG/MAG Welder in fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing.
• Strong MIG/MAG welding skills producing high-quality welds.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• MIG/MAG welding of fabricated components to specification.
• Prepare, align and tack-weld components per drawings.
• Set up and safely operate MIG/MAG welding equipment.
• Carry out preparation, grinding, drilling and finishing work as required.
• Check finished work for quality and conformance to specs.

MIG/MAG Welder - Role Summary

Job Title: MIG/MAG Welder

Reporting To: Production Manager / Fabrication Manager

Working Hours

• Monday-Thursday: 7:00am-3:30pm
• Friday: 7:00am-12:30pm
• 37.5 hours per week

Key Requirements

• Previous experience as a MIG/MAG Welder within a fabrication, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Strong practical MIG/MAG welding skills, with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with preparation, measuring, grinding, drilling, and finishing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
• Ability to safely use welding, fabrication, and lifting equipment where trained.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Main Duties

• MIG/MAG welding of fabricated components to the required specification.
• Preparing, aligning, and tack-welding components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Setting up and safely operating MIG/MAG welding and fabrication equipment.
• Carrying out preparation, grinding, drilling, and finishing work as required.
• Checking finished work for quality, accuracy, and conformity to specifications.
