Masstemps Ltd is actively recruiting an experienced MIG Fabricator Welder for a busy manufacturing site near the Wednesbury area. You will fabricate heavy structural steelwork, read drawings and welding symbols, and carry out MIG/MAG welds to tight tolerances.

The role requires marking out, cutting, drilling and assembling steel sections, with overhead cranes used to move heavy components. A strong eye for detail and a high standard of workmanship are essential for production deadlines.

Qualifikationen

• Proven experience as a Plater/Fabricator in heavy structural steel.
• Confident reading and interpreting structural drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience marking out, cutting, drilling, fitting and assembling structural steel.
• Strong MIG/MAG welding experience with heavy beams, columns and plates.
• Able to work independently from drawings with minimal supervision.

Aufgaben

• Fabricate heavy structural steelwork from mild steel to drawings and specs.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Measure, mark out, cut, drill and prepare steel sections for fabrication.
• Position, align and tack components before completing fabrication.
• Carry out MIG/MAG welding of structural components to required standard.
• Use burners, grinders, drills and magnetic drills in fabrication process.
• Check dimensions, levels and tolerances throughout fabrication.
• Work with overhead cranes and lifting equipment to move heavy steel.
• Carry out weld dressing, grinding and finishing; maintain workmanship standards.
