Job summary

Tata Steel is seeking a time-served Welder Fabricator for the Steelpark site in Wolverhampton. You will perform MIG and/or ARC welding and fabrication to support both breakdown repairs and planned maintenance.

Role requires interpreting complex drawings, maintaining high welding standards, and mentoring junior team members. Day shifts Mon-Fri; ASAP start subject to medical and drug/alcohol test.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship required.
• Strong background in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MIG and arc welding techniques.
• Comprehensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
• Profound Health & Safety legislation understanding.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Good level of IT literacy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Executing fabrication and welding repairs to facilitate breakdown recovery and planned maintenance.
• Working to the highest welding standards at all times.
• Interpreting complex engineering drawings to produce precise fabrication works.
• Diagnosing equipment issues and implementing preventative solutions.
• Managing and prioritising fabrication workloads to meet operational demands.
• Maintaining adherence to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Documenting maintenance activities, spare requirements and root causes using internal systems.
• Mentoring junior team members and apprentices.
