Job summary

Gidea Park Primary School is seeking a committed midday assistant to join our lunchtime support team, working with pupils across the school from Reception to Year 6.

You will supervise the lunch hall and playground, help with games, and provide basic first aid, with a calm, friendly manner during term-time only.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, preferably in a school setting.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.
• Punctual, approachable, caring and consistent with a calm manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils in the lunch hall to ensure safe, orderly lunchtime
• Supervise the playground and supervise pupils during break times
• Facilitate and initiate age-appropriate games and activities
• Provide basic first aid where required
• Support lunchtime staff and contribute to safeguarding during lunchtimes

Job description

Hours: 6.25 hours per week, 5 days per week, 1.25 hours per day from 12pm to 1:15pm, 38 weeks per year (term time only)

Grade: 1/2 Points 3 - 5

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

We are looking for a committed and reliable midday assistant to join our team of lunchtime support staff. This will be to work with pupils across the school from Reception to Year 6, and may also include some 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.

You will contribute to making lunchtimes happy, productive and safe for all of our children including assisting pupils in the lunch hall, supervising on the playground, facilitating and initating games, and dealing with basic first aid. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with children, be able to work as part of a team and to use their own initiative. You must be punctual, approachable, caring and consistent, with a calm and positive manner at all times.
