Job summary

Scartho Gateway Academy is seeking a Midday Supervisory Assistant to supervise lunch and oversee pupil movement during the midday break. The role is permanent, 6.25 hours per week, 11.45am to 1.00pm, Monday to Friday, with DBS and safeguarding checks as part of the recruitment process.

Salary is LGAT 3 – £25,381 pro rata, with actual salary around £710.67 per period as indicated. The post involves supporting a safe, orderly lunch environment and assisting with related duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support serving lunch to children and supervise the lunch period.
  • Supervise movement of pupils during the midday break, ensuring safety and order.
  • Liaise with academy staff to ensure correct lunch provision and handle basic admin tasks.
  • Uphold safeguarding protocols and manage dietary/allergen considerations.
  • Assist with cleanliness and hygiene of dining and meal areas; clear spillages and tidy surfaces.
  • Occasionally serve lunch prepared off-site.

Scartho Gateway Academy opened in September 2025 and now has 149 pupils and will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6.

The Academy also includes an RSP, which will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

We are looking for someone to join our new and exciting team of leaders, teachers and support staff, ensuring our new children receive a fantastic all-round education.

This role is for a midday supervisor, daily from 11.45am to 1.00pm, Monday to Friday. We are advertising for 3 posts.

The successful candidates will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and share our culture where all staff contribute to the development of our children.

Job Overview

In conjunction with the kitchen team, the role will be to oversee and support serving the children their lunch and oversee the children having their lunch. In addition, when children have finished their lunch, be responsible, in conjunction with Academy staff, for supervising the movement of students, securing the safety, welfare, and good conduct of students during the midday break.

Main Responsibilities

Under the direct leadership and supervision of the line manager the postholder will undertake a range of duties, which may include:

1. Liaising with Academy colleagues to ensure children receive the correct lunch, as ordered, alongside fulfilling any general administration requirements.

2. Ensuring all necessary safeguarding protocols are followed, including fulfilling any dietary requirements and allergen needs.

3. Supervising pupils whilst eating and outside during the lunch break

4. Communicating effectively with students and staff

5. Mobilising groups, queues, and individuals

6. Undertaking some ancillary work

7. Ensuring that children and people move around in a safe and orderly manner

8. Organising students and accommodation/furniture

9. Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of work areas where requested, including ancillary duties such as cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean, collecting litter etc

10. Occasionally serving children their lunch, which will be prepared off site.

General
