Green Wrythe Primary School is seeking a dedicated Midday Supervisor on a fixed-term contract to join our Rainbow team. You will supervise pupils at lunch in dining hall, playground and classrooms, supporting pupils with ASD and promoting safe, positive lunchtime activities.

Experience with children and a calm, proactive approach are valued. Training in safeguarding and first aid is encouraged, and you will work closely with school staff to uphold the school's ethos.

• Support pupils with ASD, ensuring safety and access to lunchtime activities.
• Encouragement of purposeful play and social skills.
• Assist with developing independent skills such as using cutlery and tidying up.
• Setting up lunch tables, serving meals, and cleaning up after lunches.
• Work with staff as part of the school team and monitor visitors.
• Report any concerns to teachers or senior staff; participate in safeguarding training.

We are currently recruiting for a Midday Supervisor (Fixed term contract) to join our established rainbow team at the school. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT /Green Wrythe Primary School and become an integral member of the team.

We are a successful and unique school consisting of two departments Ark and Rainbow, and was rated Good in all areas at the last Ofsted inspection in April 2023. Ark, is our one form entry mainstream school department. Rainbow is our highly specialised resourced provision department for 59 children with autism.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• General supervision of children during the lunch period, in the dining hall, playground and classrooms. This will include providing support for pupils with ASD, ensuring their safety and access to lunchtime activities.

• Encouragement of purposeful play and social skills activities.

• Encouraging independent skills - cutlery, tidying up etc.

• Support with developing and trying new foods.

• Supervising children washing hands etc. before eating, as required.

• Setting up lunch tables, assisting in serving children lunch, cleaning down after lunches.

• Working in close cooperation with other school staff, being part of the school team.

• Watching for any visitors to the school during the lunch break and enquiring their purpose, giving directions as necessary.

• Dealing with minor first aid problems. Reporting any accidental injury to a senior staff member and/or qualified first aider.

• Supporting children with personal hygiene and toileting as per their individual needs, including nappy changing and dealing with children who are ill (including supporting cleaning up any mess where necessary).

• Reporting and escalating any concerns, including any issues regarding behaviour, to the class teacher or senior staff member in class.

• Contributing to the ethos/work/aims and happy atmosphere of the school.

• Willingness to undergo relevant training, including safeguarding and first aid training.

• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection. Reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
