Job summary

Gatley Primary School in Stockport is seeking a Midday Assistant to supervise pupils during lunch breaks and support a calm, safe dining environment.

Reporting to the Lunchtime Co-ordinator and Headteacher, the role offers an opportunity to contribute to a caring school day, supervise games outdoors and indoors, assist with basic first aid, and help children develop good table manners and social-emotional skills.

Qualifications

  • Efficient and self-motivated midday assistant.
  • Flexible in approach with a caring attitude to children.
  • Experience with children welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of pupils during lunch breaks.
  • Supervision of playgrounds and corridors in all weathers.
  • Assist in development of good table manners and orderly dining.
  • Provide basic first aid in minor incidents and support sickness procedures.
  • Support children in social and emotional development with school leaders.

What skills and experience we're looking for We are seeking to appoint a efficient and self-motivated Midday Assistant.

To be responsible to the Lunchtime Co-ordinator under the overall authority of the Headteacher, for the supervision of pupils during the lunch break.

Candidates will be enthusiastic and, ideally, experienced (but not necessary) to join our happy team at Gatley Primary School.

They will need to be flexible in their approach and show a caring attitude to all our children.

They will be responsible for all the usual lunchtime duties (see below), be able to support children calmly with any challenges which may arise, helping the children to develop socially and emotionally by working with school leaders and children to create the best lunchtime provision possible for all.

Supervision / playing games with children in playgrounds or classrooms in wet weather.

To assist in the development of good table manners.

Ensure that children in the dining area are behaving in an orderly fashion by productive and fun engagement.

Supervision of corridor area, toilets etc.

To assist generally with occurrences arising until school recommences for the afternoon session i.e. basic first aid in accident cases, sickness etc.
