Job summary

CPS Group (UK) Limited is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our Cardiff team. You will develop and maintain Java/Spring Boot applications, collaborate with the engineering squad, and contribute to production deployments.

You will work with PostgreSQL, automated tests, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring software quality, security and performance. The role is hybrid with 3 days in the Cardiff office.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience delivering software features into production.
• Knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Mid-Level Software Engineer (Java / Spring Boot)

Location: Cardiff - Hybrid (3 Days a week in office)

Salary: Up to £55,000 + bonus up to £11,000

We're looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join a growing technology business.

You’ll join an established engineering team, developing new features and improving existing applications using Java, Spring Boot and PostgreSQL. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to take ownership of projects from development through to production while contributing to technical decisions and supporting junior developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work with PostgreSQL, SQL and database migrations.
• Build, test and deploy features into production.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-hosted systems.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve software performance, security and quality.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.

• Knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable: AWS, React, TypeScript, Jenkins, fintech or lending experience.
