About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Revenues Collection team in providing a proactive and forward-thinking in-house debt recovery service for the collection of unpaid council tax, business rates and parking fines on behalf of Maidstone, Swale, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Dartford & Tonbridge & Malling Councils.
Do you have an excellent track record in customer services, an ability to stay calm and assertive under pressure and enjoy working as part of a team? If so, you could be just what we are looking for to join our team as Enforcement Assistant.
This role requires a range of administrative, telephone and customer contact skills. You will be responding to customer enquiries, making outgoing calls to customers to recover unpaid amounts and processing payments accordingly. As a service that deals with challenging and vulnerable customers you will need excellent communication skills with the ability to pick up sensitivities within a conversation and be able to respond in a calm and professional but assertive manner when needed. There is a requirement to converse at ease with customers and providing advice in accurate spoken English is an essential element of the role.
Your main place of work will be at our Maidstone office however the council operates a hybrid working approach, with the ability to work from home; however, you will be required to occasionally work at other sites.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a temporary contract to cover a period of maternity leave, with an expected duration of up to 12 months depending on the return of the substantive postholder, subject to notice provisions. For full-time hours you must be available to work Monday to Thursday 09:00-17:00 and Friday 09:00-16:30, part-time hours may also be considered.

About You:
Ideally you will have experience working in debt collection, council tax, business rates or parking but most importantly you must be able to demonstrate that you’re a team player.
You will need to be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a desire to succeed and deliver excellent customer services. You will have sound IT skills, be confident speaking to customers on the phone and be able to remain calm under pressure.
