Job summary

Maidstone Borough Council is seeking a capable officer to manage the administration of S106 planning agreements and the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). You will liaise with developers, stakeholders and internal teams to ensure compliance and timely payments, supporting the Borough’s Infrastructure Delivery Plan.

You will also support Building Safety Levy processes, determining levy charges and issuing notices, while working as part of a flexible, hybrid team delivering high-quality local

Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated team player interested in being part of infrastructure delivery across Maidstone? If so, Maidstone Borough Council invite you to apply for this important role.

We are looking to recruit a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 (S106) Officer to help manage the administration processes of the S106 planning agreements and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). Working with others in the CIL and S106 Team, you will provide an effective and efficient function for the collection, monitoring and spending of S106 developer contributions, liaising with developers, stakeholders and internal teams to oversee compliance, timely payments and supporting the delivery of the Borough’s Infrastructure Delivery Plan.

You will also be responsible for supporting the administration of the new Building Safety Levy processes including determining levy charges, liability, and issuing notices.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent contract.

About You:

The successful applicant will be educated to A-level or equivalent or have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a Local Authority planning environment.

You will have knowledge of the planning system and the role of s106 agreements, CIL and planning obligations, and ideally you will have an understanding of the regulatory and policy framework for CIL and S106.

The successful applicant should be a strong team player who embraces change and is able to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service. You will have excellent communication skills including relationship building, negotiation and report writing. You will also have a sound knowledge and experience of administrative processes and have excellent numerical and analytical skills. You will also have experience of IT systems, ideally including systems such as Exacom.
