Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Laboratory Support worker to assist in the Microbiology department of the South of Tyne and Wear Pathology Services at Gateshead. You will support biomedical scientists in day-to-day analysis and sample registration.

Responsibilities include running automated equipment, adhering to procedures, and ensuring patient confidentiality and safety standards across the Trust.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent.
• GCSE/O levels in Biology and Chemistry.
• NVQ2 in Clinical Laboratory Support or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist biomedical scientists with day-to-day analysis of patient samples.
• Register samples and manage waste.
• Operate and monitor automated laboratory equipment.
