Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Laboratory Support role in its Microbiology service, part of the South of Tyne and Wear Pathology Services. The post holder will assist biomedical scientists with day-to-day analysis of patient samples, sample registration and waste management, and will run automated equipment within the laboratory.

Based in the North East, the Trust provides hospital and community health services across Gateshead.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grades A-C including Mathematics and English or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• GCSE/O levels in Biology and Chemistry.
• NVQ2 in Clinical Laboratory Support.

Responsibilities

• Assist biomedical scientists with day-to-day analysis of patient samples, registration of samples and waste management.
• Operate automated equipment within the Microbiology laboratory.
