Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant for the Microbiology/Serology Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The role is full time (37.5 hours) with a rotating shift pattern from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, plus weekend rotas.

You will support qualified Biomedical Scientists and rotate across specimen reception, processing samples and other lab tasks. Experience in science or computer literacy is useful; no specific qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Applicants do not need specific qualifications; a science background is useful.
• Computer literacy or basic computer experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Biomedical Scientists with specimen processing and analysis.
• Rotate through the lab areas including specimen reception and processing.
• Handle laboratory waste and answer telephone queries.
• Support a safe and high-quality working environment with training.
• Help cover early, late, and weekend shifts as required.
