Job summary

ALS Laboratories in Coventry is seeking a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 to support the General Microbiology department. The role requires light microscopy experience and keen attention to detail. You will follow procedures to test samples, record results, and ensure compliance with process and safety standards.

The position is full-time and permanent, 37 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday (07:00–15:00). Annual salary is £25,878. Closing date is 2 November 2026; Hiring Manager is Andrew Macan-Lind.

Qualifications

• Light microscopy experience is an essential requirement.
• Qualifications include 5 GCSEs with Science, Maths and English; A level preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures, with a willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
• Client-driven approach and strong collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements.
• Ensure samples are completed efficiently and effectively following all process, procedures, and legislation.
• Deliver on key performance indicators.
• Report analytical data.
• Participate in the Taste and Odour panel on a rotational basis following screening.
• Assist team members to achieve work objectives.
• Proactively ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
