Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Measurement Development to join the Rolls Royce Defence Future Programmes team in Bristol. This role involves developing manufacturing technology, creating, and adapting processes for the Global Combat Air Programme, a multinational initiative led by the UK, Japan, and Italy for a sixth-generation stealth fighter.

You will be responsible for developing metrology capabilities for novel engine components, working closely with digital manufacturing teams, senior specialists, and design engineers to develop automated metrology programming using Model Based Definitions. The role offers a high-impact career opportunity within Rolls-Royce, focusing on emerging metrology capabilities.

Your duties include ensuring products are designed for manufacturability, developing inspection methods, and collaborating across teams to optimize cost and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in Design for Manufacture to utilize Model Based Definitions for measurement automation.
  • Ensure effective measurement system analysis within Rolls-Royce and supply chain facilities.
  • Lead the selection, acquisition, and commissioning of verification equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement and process control activities.
  • Contribute to global communities of practice in metrology and product verification.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified engineer with a degree or apprenticeship in engineering, with deep manufacturing measurement knowledge.
  • Experience with digital measurement programs in software like Polyworks, Zeiss Calypso, Zeiss Inspect.
  • High computer literacy, digital manufacturing experience, familiarity with CAD (preferably Siemens NX).
  • Broad manufacturing experience, including design for manufacture, build quality, inspection planning, and product development methodologies like APQP and PPAP.
