Jackson Hogg is recruiting an experienced Metal Polisher/Fettler to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Basildon, UK. The role focuses on deburring, fettling, grinding, polishing and finishing metal components to a high standard.

Candidates should read drawings, follow work lists, and use hand and air tools to achieve excellent surface finishes. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work physically in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Metal Polisher, Fettler, Deburrer, Grinder or Finisher.

Responsibilities

• Deburr metal components using files and rotary tools.
• Remove sharp edges and prepare parts for final inspection.
• Grind and polish components to engineering drawing requirements.
• Use air tools and hand tools to achieve high-quality surface finishes.
• Carry out light polishing of steel and aluminium components.
• Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Work in line with quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Deburr metal components using files, scrapers, and rotary tools

• Carry out light polishing of steel and aluminium components

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Metal Polisher, Fettler, Deburrer, Grinder, or Finisher
• Ability to read and follow work lists, instructions, and drawings
• Experience using hand tools, air tools, and inspection equipment
• Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Able to carry out repetitive tasks while maintaining quality standards
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Physically fit and comfortable standing for extended periods
• Flexible to work overtime when required
